About Me
The establishment of Children's Hunger Fund in December, 1991, was an outgrowth of our desire to bring hope to the next generation. Children are our future. Sadly, far too many children in this world will never have the opportunity to move beyond the impoverished state in which they are born into. For some, life will end as quickly as it begins. For others, a lifetime of pain and suffering awaits them. Our goal is to break this cycle of hunger and suffering, at least for some, so that hope can be restored, life can be lived, and dreams can be fulfilled. As stated in our mission, we seek to serve children in need across America and the world.
Our philosophy of ministry is part of our uniqueness. First, we take a highly relational approach when working with needy children. We endeavor to build trust relationships with needy families through the home delivery of food. We firmly believe that it is through relationship that you can most effectively achieve real change in the lives and hearts of the poor.
Second, we are a values-based organization. Our commitment to biblical values compels us to work with the local church wherever possible in an effort to move children and families away from a dependency on man to meet their needs, to a dependency on God. Our core values of integrity and accountability penetrate our entire mission. In recent years, we have received national acclaim for being one of America's most cost-effective charities. More than 99 cents of every dollar goes directly to care for the needs of children. This is a value that we are committed to maintaining as our organization grows in the future.
Finally, and I think most importantly, we are passionate about our mission to serve children in need. One of the greatest human tragedies is when a person loses all hope in life. Once you have lost hope, you have lost everything! This is what poverty does. It tells a child that their situation will never change. Even in the youngest children, you can see it in their eyes. Children as young as five years old become convinced that their lives don't matterÖ so they give up on life before it even starts for them. We firmly believe that God created each one of us in His image, and as a result, we are ALL significant. Every life is precious. Every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential, to strive for greatness, to become all that he or she is created to be. By reaching out to needy children and introducing them to a God who loves them and cares for them, we seek to bring real hope to the next generation.
