Description
The Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County is a non-profit agency dedicated to ensuring equal access to the justice system for the low-income, disadvantaged and traditionally underserved residents of Palm Beach County, Florida. Started in 1949 by one attorney whose sole purpose was to give free legal advice to the economically disadvantaged, the Legal Aid Society now has a staff of nearly 100 and serves over 7,500 clients and families annually. In addition, Legal Aid provides services to over 2,000 additional individuals through outreach and education programming such as foreclosure defense clinics, immigration outreach seminars, fair housing rights presentations, elder abuse and exploitation prevention workshops. The Legal Aid Society addresses a broad range of legal needs through the following program areas including Family Advocacy, Children’s Advocacy, Individual Rights Advocacy, Elder Advocacy, Health Advocacy, and Community Outreach. Our goal is to protect our clients’ personal safety, improve opportunities and living conditions, and promote self-sufficiency. The Legal Aid Society achieves this goal on a daily basis by providing high quality legal services, free of charge, to meet the legal needs of the less fortunate in our community.
